Emerging Tech Production – Animation & sound

As the environment was finished my next job was working on Animating teh frog.

I am not expereinced in 3d animation, and I was ill and on a time crunch so I just used what knowledge I had instead of causing mirgrains from stress trying to follow tutorials.

So to follow the sections like this. most of it would be carried by the atmosphere and voice over luckily..

This is my buff frog he was not meant to be buff but he turned out this way.
I also forgot to take screenshots so I made some helpful drawings of how I broke it down.

He inically looked like this, but I could get the legs to look right with just one peice.. so I added the upper legs.

But then weird clipping happened so I kept adjusting and adjusting until he became what he is today.
At this point I was extremely tired so I decided that he was a unique feature.

I added blue & purple lighting over everything to make it into seem like a calming night time scene.

It was a bit dark, So I decided to add fireflys.
I did this by make spheres with a material with a glowing emmission and then animating them flying in loops.

Then came rendering..
So I did my darnest at every point, trying to render at home, at labs, at Daim, but it always took HOURS, at one point my blender said it’d take 2 years to render the full animation as an image sequence. I still too this day do not know what the problem was and why it hated me.

I decided that having some kind of end product was better than nothing and rendered too video clips. One of a loopable part of the main animation.
And another of the breathing sequence.

After all the trouble with exporting I had to put the visuals and sound together best I could.
As the animation was on a loop I just had to duplicate it a few times, and then I overlaid the breathing animation on top and lined it up with teh frog’s movement.
In few places I used blur & fade filters to do my best to avoid harsh cuts, it was mostly from the water as that wasnt a looping animation – more of a randomised effect.

Next was the voice work. I initcally wnated to get someone else to do it but didnt have anyone else at my disposal so I ended up pulling up my boot straps and doing it with my ‘annoying & child-like’ voice..
I managed to after a couple tries get a somewhat relaxing softvoice down. I found it was a lot easier to maintain in a bunch of short takes and recorded one sentence at a time, which menat I could get something good in 1-2 takes where when I tried something longer it was 4-5 takes.

Next I added in the relaxing background noise, I used noises that personally made me feel relaxed.. I dont know the science nature just helps me sleep and calm down.
I made a quick table below of all the sounds I used.
