I based my top-down shooter on experience at Hull Faire. I based the player’s character on an octopus I won at hook-a-duck, then the enemies on the bad food there, which I had many gripes with due to how allergen unfriendly it was!

The first code was for the player, the covers from top left to bottom: Bullet, movement, Head rotation.
This was needed so the player can do the main mechanic of the game: shooting, as well as walking around to avoid enemies. The head needed to rotate as the player’s body and the head are separate so the head can follow the cursor.

Next are the enemies. This code is covering the enemies’ main mechanics; actually appearing, damaging the player, dying when shot at, and honing in upon the player.
For the appearing mechanics, it becomes more often over time
The death mechanic is if the bullets collide with an enemy, that enemy dies.
and the enemies will naturally run towards the player.

Then there’s also the scope and the score, both self-explnatiory. The scope follows the cursor around to make it easier for the player to aim, then the score is to show the player how well they’re doing.

additionally, there’s also the Games controller which allows the player to exit the game as well as the game to restart.
